Look Who's 40: Celebrating Four Decades of Dedication

We are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone - 40 years of service from Sales and Marketing Director Wayne Stringfellow.

Forty years. In the same business. In the same industry. And somehow still smiling.

Wayne joined Jephsons as a young man with an interest in construction and design, and what followed has been a career built on commitment, consistency, and an impressive ability to grow with the business at every stage.

A Celebration Forty Years On

From gaining his qualifications and joining the office team, to developing expertise in project management and estimation, Wayne has progressed through the company in the best possible way — by understanding every part of it.

He now serves as Sales and Marketing Director, proving that experience, dedication, and a steady hand (plus a very good memory for projects from the early days) go a long way.

While 40-year anniversaries are often marked with cake and a few “remember when…” stories, this one is also about genuine appreciation. Wayne’s contribution to Jephsons and the wider industry has been exceptional.

Dave Soar, Commercial Director, commented

“Wayne is one of those rare people who makes a real difference every day – to the work, the team, and the culture. Forty years is an outstanding achievement, and we’re incredibly proud of everything he’s contributed. He’s a huge part of our past, present, and future.”

Colleagues often highlight not just his experience, but his character. Wayne is widely respected for his positivity, professionalism, and steady approach to every project he’s involved in.

Wayne reflects on his journey with typical humility:

“I came here as a young lad and never really left – and I’m very glad I didn’t. Jephsons has given me a brilliant career, great colleagues, and work I’m proud of. Here’s to whatever comes next.”

Wayne’s story reflects Jephsons itself – a business built on people, long-term relationships, and a commitment to doing things properly.

Forty years. One team. And still going strong.

Media not available

Still employee-owned. Still family-spirited. Still delivering.

Five years ago, Jephsons Shopfitters made a decision that said everything about the kind of business they are.

Rather than sell to an outside buyer and walk away, the directors handed ownership to the people who had built the company alongside them. Half a decade on, that decision is looking better than ever.

A Celebration Five Years On

When Jephsons transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in 2020, it marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. The Mansfield-based interior fit-out specialists, who had already celebrated their golden anniversary as a family business, were choosing continuity over a quick exit, and people over profit. Five years later, the business continues to go from strength to strength.

From finding and vetting trusted sub-contractors to building lasting partnerships with suppliers, Ben has spent the past 10 years creating and maintaining the network that allows Jephsons to deliver quality fit-outs across some of the UK’s best-known brands. His work includes negotiating terms, awarding contracts, and ensuring that every project – whether it’s a Costa Coffee, KFC, Pizza Hut, or Taco Bell fit-out – has the right people and materials behind it.

The Management Team

The management team that took over have spent the past five years doing exactly what they said they would, running the business with a long-term mindset, investing in relationships, and building a reputation that speaks for itself. On-time, on-budget delivery has become their calling card. Clients deal with consistent, familiar faces. And when challenges arise on complex commercial fit-out work, they’re faced head-on.

“Our clients don’t want surprises. They want someone they can trust to do what they say they’re going to do. That’s what we’ve always been, and it’s what we’ll always be.”

Jephsons Shopfitters Management Team

The EOT model has proven its worth in ways that go beyond the balance sheet. Staff continuity has remained strong. The culture of care for the work, for the clients, and for each other that defined Jephsons as a family business has translated naturally into the employee-owned era. The bonus structure introduced as part of the transition has meant that when the business performs well, everyone benefits. People are invested. This is their business now, and it shows.

The in-house joinery and manufacturing workshop remains central to what Jephsons offers, a genuine point of difference in the shopfitting sector, giving the team the capability to manufacture to specification and deliver a truly end-to-end service. The management team is building on the business’s established network, developing capability, and exploring new markets to support sustainable growth for the decades ahead.

Ian Jephsons, who remains available to the team as a trusted sounding board, has watched the transition with quiet satisfaction. The business he and his family built over four decades has not been sold, diluted, or absorbed. It’s flourishing in its own way, on its own terms, with the people who know it best at the helm.

“It’s allowed the family business to continue the Jephsons story, keep pushing forward, and grow it to be more successful than it has ever been.”

Celebrating 10 Years: Ben Tomlinson's Decade with Jephsons Shopfitters

This November, we're marking a significant milestone at Jephsons Shopfitters – Ben Tomlinson's 10-year anniversary with the company.

A decade of dedication, expertise, and reliability deserves proper recognition, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate Ben’s contribution to our team and the success of our projects.

A Decade of Building Relationships

When Ben joined Jephsons in 2015, the company gained more than just another team member – we gained someone who would become integral to how we deliver projects. Ben’s role centres on one of the most critical aspects of shopfitting: sourcing and managing the relationships that make everything possible.

The Steady Hand Behind the Scenes

What makes Ben particularly valuable isn’t just his technical knowledge or industry contacts – it’s his approach. In an industry where timelines are tight and pressure can run high, Ben brings consistency and calm. He’s the person the team turns to when decisions need making, problems need solving, or projects need keeping on track.

His professionalism and methodical approach mean our standards remain high, our sub-contractors know what’s expected, and our suppliers deliver what we need, when we need it. That level of reliability doesn’t happen by accident – it’s built through years of experience and a genuine commitment to doing the job properly.

Looking Ahead

Ten years is a significant achievement in any industry, and we’re grateful that Ben has chosen to build his career with Jephsons. His loyalty and hard work have contributed enormously to where the company is today, and we’re looking forward to many more years of working together on great projects.

So here’s to Ben – thanks for a brilliant 10 years, and here’s to the next decade of teamwork and continued success.

Congratulations, Ben. Enjoy the celebrations!
